Age-Defying Skin Secrets from GlamSpirit

Age-Defying Skin Secrets from GlamSpirit

I am not a beauty expert, but I am frequently told that I have really good skin. In my experience good skin comes from a wholesome, nutrient-rich diet, 8 hours of sleep each night, drinking plenty of water and keeping my energy body clear.
In addition the beauty regimen listed above, I do have one guiltless (unsolicited, non sponsored) beauty obsession. It’s called SKII. Someone gave me a bottle as a gift and that’s when I and became hooked.

Age-Defying Skin Secrets from GlamSpirit
SK-II Facial Hydrating UV Cream

The secret ingredient: Sake. Well, not just sake, it’s actually the fermentation of yeast and enzymes needed to create sake that set this beauty potion apart from the rest.

Age-Defying Skin Secrets from GlamSpirit

Here’s the story from SK-II’s website:

For almost a generation, Japanese women have known a secret. This secret was discovered by a Japanese monk who visited a sake brewery in Kobe.

He was surprised to discover that the brewery workers had extraordinary soft and youthful hands. Even an elderly man with pronounced wrinkles on his face possessed the silky smooth hands of a young boy. This observation encouraged the monk to conduct a series of experiments. He eventually discovered a clear, nutrient-rich liquid that could be extracted during the yeast fermentation process. He shared his findings with a group of skincare scientists, who became equally excited by the potential of his discovery.

Before you run off to Japan to go work for a sake factory, consider treating yourself or asking a loved one to treat you to a bottle of SK-II.

Suggestions for Cleansing and Detoxing Our Bodies

Suggestions for Cleansing and Detoxing Our Bodies

Fall is a particularly good time to pay attention to cleansing the body. People have cleansed throughout the ages to remove buildup of toxins and impurities in the system which constantly drain our immune systems.
There are countless ways to cleanse, but here is just a sampling of ideas to consider:

1) Digestive Cleansing
One of the most comprehensive ways to rid the body of the accumulated junk (mucous and build-up) in our digestive track. Digestive cleanses may involve fasting, wheatgrass juice, or juicing, cayenne pepper, enemas and colonics. Each of these is intended to assist the body in the process of elimination (particularly the elimination off all the “bad” things we’ve ingested over the years). Often the results of digestive cleansing – after the initial “reaction” stages of headaches or irritability- include feeling more “clear-headed”, lighter, more aware, less fatigued, energized.

Cleanse and Purify Thyself is a great book to read before doing a cleanse and Health and Yoga is a great resource on this topic.

2) Skin Brushing / Dry Brush
Brushing your skin with a dry body brush is one of the best ways to clean your skin. It may feel kind of odd but it is more effective than brushing your skin with a wet soapy brush or sponge.

skinbrush.jpg

3) Pranayama
Incorporating a breathing practice, with breath retention, and focus on expelling all the air out of the lungs helps invigorate and cleanse the lungs. Many yoga studios offer a pranayama class or incorporate pranayama in their scheduled classes.

4) Tongue Scraping / Tongue Cleaning
Ever notice that slimy white (or sometimes yellow, if you’re sick) film on your tongue? Sounds, gross, I know, but that’s the mouth’s eliminatation system and one of the causes of bad breath (the rest of it is coming from your digestive system). A tongue scraper can be used to scrape off coated tongues first thing in the morning.

5) Detox Bath
Use a combination of epsom salt, sea salt and baking soda to help pull out toxins from the skin (another great way to eliminate toxins). This one can be especially beneficial to ease emotional imbalances.

6) Water Flush
Most of us know that it’s important to stay hydrated and drink lots of water. A Balinese healer gave me another tip…drink 2 liters of warm water first thing in the morning to flush your system.

Regardless of the type of training you seek-hair stylist, nail technician, make-up artist, esthetician, or barber-it is critical to select a school, academy, or institute that is accredited by a national organization such as the National Accrediting Commission for Cosmetology Arts & Sciences (NACCAS). An accredited program will not only ensure you get the experience you need to succeed, but is also most likely to offer financial aid, grants, scholarships, or loans to help cover tuition costs.

A scholarship and grant for beauty school is a set dollar amount awarded to the student to cover tuition and sometimes associated costs (such as room and board, meals, books, etc). Scholarships are typically awarded based on merit, that is, your grades from high school, or even college. In some cases, students who struggled academically in high school yet still demonstrate promise in the beauty industry can take extra measures by attaching a personal essay to his/her scholarship application, or by acquiring personal recommendations. Salon schools and or top cosmetology programs will also consider awarding scholarships based on a student's financial situation or ethnicity.

The most important aspect of applying for scholarships to a beauty academy is to do your homework:

1) conduct comprehensive online searches,
2) don't pass up any opportunity to apply, even for the smallest dollar amounts,
3) apply early, and
4) ensure your application is complete and has a professional appearance.

Scholarships and grants for beauty school are awarded either through federal or state governments, or through private entities, such as the beauty school you are applying to, or sponsoring organizations and private individuals. Here is list of opportunities for you on resources for important information on these worthwhile financial-aid opportunities.

Most hair stylists work from about 9:00 a.m., to 6:00 or even 7:00 p.m. The majority of your income will come from days later in the week, beginning on Wednesdays and increasing through Saturdays. Eager hair stylists will also offer evening hours to accommodate a working clientele. The good news is that talented hair stylists keep busy throughout the day, which makes time go faster, and earns them a great income.

An organized stylist schedules his or her day according to the needs of the client and the salon. It is essential to arrive at least 30 minutes earlier than the first scheduled appointment to ensure the salon is presentable, i.e., floors swept, towels cleaned, mirrors wiped down, tools sanitized, and even coffee prepared.

Performing these tasks early in the day, and continuing throughout the day, will ensure the salon, and its stylists, make a good first impression.

Hairdressers spend their days cutting, styling, perming, and coloring hair, as well as performing scalp, straightening and bleaching treatments. Some hairstylists offer services such as wig consultations, hair extensions, and more. Finding the right style for each client is the biggest single factor in retaining and earning customers.

There are plenty of ingredients that you have at home and you can use to create your own beauty products.

Here is a collection of tips and tricks to make you naturally beautiful:

- Make a homemade beauty facial scrub from grapes. Mash a handful of grapes. Strain them to separate the pulp from the juice. Remove the skins and mash the pulp and juice with 1 tablespoon of almond flour.

- Make a homemade hair rinse. Use Aloe vera gel to thicken your hair. Massage it into your scalp then leave it for 15 minutes before rinsing.

- Make a homemade beauty facial mask with sugar and oil. Mix 1 tablespoon of sugar with a few drops of olive oil for a sweet facial exfoliant. This can be mixed in larger quantities for full body exfoliation.

- Make a homemade beauty facial mask with honey and bananas. Make sure the bananas are not overripe. Mash 2 teaspoons of ashed banana, 2 teaspoons of rolled oats, 1 teaspoon of milk and 1 teaspoon honey. After 10 minutes, massage it into your face. Allow it to sit for 5 more minutes and then rinse with warm water.

How do scrubs work? The scrub, when on, is a king of peel. The dead skin cells adhere to the slightly dried paste and are removed by the friction created when you gently massage it over your face. The result is a healthier looking and refreshed skin.

If your skin is dry and easily irritated, don’t wash more than once a day. You may risk stripping the skin of its natural oils. Dr. Franks recommends looking for non-irritating cleansing washes that are soap-free, moisturizers that are light, oil-free, and water-based to help maintain the skin’s natural barrier.

For a skin softening bath, add 1/4 cup honey to the water, and 1 teaspoon of lemon.

And more:

- Make a homemade beauty facial mask with apples or pears. Add the piece of fruit to one tablespoon of honey.

- Make a homemade moisturizing exfoliant. (do not use in your face) In an air-tight jar, mix together the sugar, the salts and the coffee granules (the concentration of the ingredientes is not important at this point, just experiment with different quantities) Add in the oil. Rub all over your skin in the shower, and then rinse off thoroughly. The mixture will naturally become quite oily. Next, pat the skin dry with a towel.Your skin will be soft and smooth.

- Make a homemade moisturizing whitening bath for your nails. Get a bowl with plenty of lemon juice as to cover your nais. Clean your nails, removing any polish you may have on. Dip your nails in the bowl, and keep them there for two minutes. Rinse your nails and apply hand lotion for best results.

According to the dictionary, honey is a sweet yellowish or brownish fluid produced by various bees from the nectar of flowers. Besides using honey as food, did you know that honey is one of the oldest and most effective beauty aids?

Honey contains waxes, sugars, and traces of minerals. It is a natural moisturizer, as well as an anti-irritant making it suitable for sensitive skin types. Honey can be found in many of the beauty products you find in your local drug store or favorite beauty supply store. Some of these products can be very expensive to purchase and many of these products can be made at home.

Try some of the following honey beauty tips below. Please be sure not to use honey on your skin if you are allergic to it!

1. Honey mask: Apply pure honey to your face and allow it to set until dry. This will take about 15 minutes. Once dry, rinse your face with warm water.

2. Body glow bath: To moisturize, smooth, and get an all over body glow, keep a jar of honey next to your bath. Apply honey on your skin and pat dry using both hands. While patting your skin, the honey will get sticky and gently pull up your skin. Rinse away the honey when you are done. The results will be great circulation and beautiful, glowing skin!

3. Honey bath: For sweet smelling and soft skin, add ¼ to ½ cup of honey to your bath water.

4. Honey scrub: Mix 1 teaspoon of honey with a little almond flour into the palm of your hand. Gently apply on your face for a facial scrub. Rinse your face with warm water to remove honey scrub.

5. Daily facial cleanser: Mix 1 teaspoon of honey with a little milk powder into the palm of your hand. Apply on your face to clean away dirt and makeup and then rinse with warm water.

6. Shiny Hair: To add some shine to your hair, mix 1 teaspoon of honey, a squeeze of fresh lemon, and 1 quart of warm water. Shampoo your hair as usual and then pour the honey mixture on your hair. Allow your hair to dry as normal. You do not have to rinse out the honey mixture.

7. Hair conditioner: For healthy hair and scalp, combine ½ cup of honey and 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Saturate your hair with the honey mixture, put on a shower cap and allow it to remain on hair for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, shampoo and rinse your hair as you normally do.

8. Skin toner: To firm, smooth, and moisturize your skin, combine 1 peeled, cored apple with 1 tablespoon of honey in a blender. Pulse honey mixture until smooth. Gently apply honey mixture on face and allow it to remain for 15 minutes. Rinse your face with warm water to remove the honey mixture.

With the above beauty tips, you can create affordable spa-like products at home. Honey is a wonderful beauty product because it contains naturally occurring enzymes, vitamins, and minerals. Be sure your honey is all natural by purchasing only 100% pure honey to create your beauty products.

Beauty Tips - How to Get Free Beauty Product Samples

Beauty Tips
Beauty Tips

These are hard times, admittedly, so if there's a way to keep yourself beautiful at the least cost, wouldn't you go for it? It would be every woman's dream to go shopping everyday and buy the things that catches her eye, without worrying about her bank account. But reality wise, such a dream only gets fulfilled once every so often, unless you're willing to max your credit card and worry about it later.

Here's a tip - try getting beauty product samples for free! Yes, free! Many beauty product companies often give away samples so that consumers will know more about their products. You can try these samples, keep the ones that you like, and throw the ones that don't work for you. Just make sure that you read about the product first, however, so as to prevent any damages on your face or your body.

Here's a couple of places where you can get beauty products free samples:

1. You can try the special store that sells the product. Occasionally, branded stores which are trying to launch a new product will give away samples. Sometimes, it even comes with a free facial or some discount coupons that you can use later on to buy other products in the store. You need to check press releases and announcements on TV or the radio for new product launches, and get yourself right in the area where they're giving away samples.

2. Department stores are your best bet for places for free beauty product sample giveaways. Look around and see if there are people flocking in one area of the mall and check if they are giving away samples. Sometimes, you can even get a free spray of the latest and most fragrant perfumes!

3. Check your favorite beauty magazine's cover, as sometimes there are perfume samples attached on those. That a nifty way of advertising, but if it's there, take it and enjoy the scent for free!

4. Companies may sometimes send you samples via mail. There are companies selling lotions or shampoos, for example who may simply send a beauty sample product to your mailbox. If a well known store that you frequent asks for your mailing address, don't hesitate to give it to them, because this may mean a good sample coming your way one of these days.

5. If you're lucky, your dentist may even give you samples of dental floss or a new breath freshener. Don't hesitate to ask your dentist, as these samples are really meant to be given away anyway.

Although some may not believe it, there are beauty product samples that you can avail of using the internet. Be careful, however, not to give your credit card information, because you will get billed for the next set of products, even without your permission to bill your card.

Beauty product samples are easy to get. You just need to be quite creative on where you can get them. You can save a lot of money taking advantage of such samples. Don't forget to buy only the products that really interest you and can be beneficial to you. Before ordering a new beauty product online, make sure to read about it and make sure that you are not allergic to any of the ingredients of the product

Why Do Many Graduates of Beauty Schools Opt to Go Into Entrepreneurship?

Why Do Many Graduates of Beauty Schools Opt to Go Into Entrepreneurship? We have seen, over the years, a trend where many - actually a majority - of the graduates from beauty schools opt to go into entrepreneurship, rather than staying in employment all their lives. This trend is interesting, especially when you take into consideration the fact that in many places, the percentage of graduates of beauty schools who opt to go into entrepreneurship is even bigger than that of business school graduates who opt to go the same route. To the critical thinker, this is food for thought, because there must be some factors behind it.

So, why do many graduates of beauty schools opt to go into entrepreneurship?

Well, one factor behind the trend where many graduates of beauty schools opt to go into entrepreneurship is because they recon that they will make more money in business than in paid employment. And remarkably, most of the time, this reckoning tends to be actually true. In many cases the difference between being in paid employment and going into business for oneself in the beauty industry is simply exponential, so that whichever way one opts to look at it, there is simply no comparison between the two. In a situation like this, continuing in paid employment (when you could be making many times more in business) would constitute a completely irrational decision.Another factor that is behind the trend where many graduates of beauty schools opt to go into business for themselves is demand related. This is the fact that there is a huge demand for beauty professionals, so that they know even if they fail in the ventures they try out, they can always get back their jobs - or get similar ones, elsewhere. This is not the case in most other sectors. There are sectors where one sees better prospects in business, but still decides to hang on to the paid employment; knowing that should they get out of paid employment and fail in business too, their situation would be precarious, as they may not be able to regain their old positions. What is worth keeping in mind, about the graduates of beauty having so many choices is that they tend to be quite talented artists, offering a distinctive service; which justifies the great demand they find themselves in. It helps, in this regard too, that the beauty industry is one in which competition for professional beauticians is still very high. We are likely to start seeing a change in this aspect as the number of beauty-schools continues to grow and the market gets saturated with graduates of the said beauty schools.

Further still, another factor behind the trend where most graduates of the beauty schools go into entrepreneurship is the fact that setting up most beauty-related businesses is not too demanding, in terms of capital outlay and such things. These are the sorts of things that serve as 'barriers to entry' in other industries, but in the beauty industry, they don't seem to manifest; meaning more and more graduates of beauty schools can go into entrepreneurship.

Beauty School Grads Need a Competitive Edge During a Job Search

What does that mean for recent beauty school graduates? Competition for jobs is tough. Yet, there are many things a student can do to give herself a competitive edge in the marketplace.

To start, most graduates of beauty institutes can still look to their school's job placement counselors for help. These professionals have extensive contacts in salons, day spas, hotels, cruise ships, medical offices, and resorts, and are usually pretty good sources of information and networking.

But don't wait until graduation to get started on a great career. While in school, make a name for yourself by outperforming all expectations. When top salons call the job placement counselor at your design school, your name should be at the tip of his/her tongue as the most talented, most driven, and most organized student.

Second, during off hours, research potential employers-long before your cosmetology program is complete. Establish networks by visiting salons, attending trade shows, talking to beauty industry professionals, and handing out business cards. While at salons, day spas, hotels, or resorts, identify what positions might be opening up and ask what is required of new stylists so that you can apply that at cosmetology school the very next day.

Third, use the Internet. There are plenty of job search sites specifically geared toward the cosmetology and fashion industries. Which websites and/or recruitment agencies should you avoid at all costs? Any company-including one that claims it has special connections in the salon industry-that requires job seekers to purchase a subscription to access job listings. Employers pay websites to list their open positions, not the other way around.

Next, create your own website or online slideshow to showcase your artistic talents, especially if you're applying for design jobs nationwide, or even internationally. A link to your gallery of photos will impress the salon or day spa manager, and put you at the top of his or her consideration list.

Lastly, create a great resume, listing any and all jobs related to your job search. Account for gaps in employment, be brief yet descriptive, use measurements ("during my internship at the salon I exceed product sales goals by 20 percent), and keep it to one page.

With convenient class locations as well as online learning, starting a career in the beauty profession can be lucrative and give you a recession proof opportunity. An education can provide you with the knowledge and range of skills necessary to function effectively in your chosen profession. To learn more about cosmetology school and a career in beauty, visit our site today.
