How To Find An Accountant Online?

http://www.goldcoastaccountancy.com/images/people.png If you've ever tried to find an accountant online, then you will know that you will be faced with the anonymous corporate image. The amazingly complex but yet bland websites devoid of all human feeling and compassion. You'll be told that "we can save you tax whilst making more profit", none of which is believable, and even if it was believable, which firm would you choose because they all say exactly the same thing. It is if they have all gone to the same university, the same shop for their website, they could all even live in the same street for all I care.

All I need to know, is that a qualified accountant will be preparing my accounts or tax return. Beyond that I don't really care, I will assume that he or she knows what they are doing and that the process will be straight forward. All I need to know is what will it cost me and how long will it take to get the work done!

That's where the internet comes in. These days you can place an advert on a specialist website giving details of what you need done and hey presto, replies arrive in your inbox as if by magic. What's more, you won't be flooded with desperadoes vying for business either. Most sites allow a fixed number of responses and that's it, you are left to make your choice and take your chances. One thing though, you will get replies from right across the country which is the only downside as far as I can see. After all, do you really want to do business with your accountant via email and courier services. To be honest, I can't see the problem, in fact I'd rather do it by email than have some guy in a suit reciting the equivalent of Shakespeare for 30 minutes.

However, that's not the end of the matter. The next stage is to ask yourself "Do I really need to ask for quotations?". I say this because the internet is already saturated with online firms offering long distance services at low prices fixed in advance. Their websites show their prices and all you have to do is literally choose what you want and press "proceed", nothing could be more simple. The only draw back is that most such service providers have terms and conditions stating that their low price only stands if you do your books to a decent standard. This however is the case with all accountants. If you agree a fixed low price and upset the accountant, you'll find your fees going up next year, so in the longterm, nothing is really that different online.

Poor Management Major Cause Of Economic Downfall?

http://static.seekingalpha.com/uploads/2009/3/10/saupload_quinn3.jpg

http://i2.crtcdn1.net/images/asset/904/487/38/i29596_260x195.jpgThere is still a lot of blame being thrown around about who or what was responsible for the demise of the economy and why small businesses are continuing to fail. However, when you look around town today, the truth is that many shuttered companies got that way simply due to poor management.

You can argue about what the best management style is all day long, whether you should be the good cop or bad cop or somewhere in between but what we are talking about is bigger than this. Getting your management style right is important and it is extremely critical to start out the right way. However, poor management runs much deeper.

There is a big rush that comes with starting a new venture. It is exciting, you feel untouchable and you don't let distractions get in the way of your focus to reel in those revenues. However, you must not let this power trip turn into over-confidence, resulting in you overlooking common sense business principals. This may be great now, money may be rolling in the door faster and easier than you thought possible but unless you are prepared and are really paying attention you could be setting yourself to go the way so many of these other, no defunct companies have gone.

Even if you have a wealth of management experience, you can find the responsibilities of running your own business quite different. As a business owner you are tasked with protecting the longevity of your organization and the jobs of those who work for you, not to mention the financial future of your family. This means keeping your business on a solid financial footing, making sure that you are covered in case of disasters and that your business continuity is assured. No one has all of the answers even if they are extremely knowledgeable and talented in a few of them. This means the need to invest in ongoing education and learning whether this is through taking course, joining mastermind groups or getting into a coaching program.

Don't just stop here either. Have your bases covered gives you a solid foundation for a sustainable and successful company, though in order to stay on top you must also be in the loop for recognizing and adjusting to future trends. Much of this can be accomplished online and with a solid source for quality advice. However, one of the biggest mistakes that business owners make it simply not paying attention to what your managers and lower level staff are saying. Yes, your business is your baby, but these team members have the benefit of a different and critical perspective that is closer to the consumer and which can make all of the difference in you succeeding or fading away.

How They Help the Business - Business Holiday Card
http://www.christmasmarketing.co.uk/images/products/small/business-holiday-card.jpgCompanies almost everywhere know how essential it is to not only offer a top notch service or product to customers, but to also make every single customer feel special and loved. This is not always an easy job and companies must be ever vigilant for just about any good ideas of how to show their appreciation to clients. Among the many techniques this can be done is by delivering each customer a business holiday card during the holiday season.

Quality business holiday card mailings are a inexpensive, acceptable way to connect with customers as well as workers throughout the holiday season. There are numerous ways that delivering a business holiday card can benefit a company:

1. Bolster current client connections- businesses can improve their ongoing relationships with current clients by connecting with them throughout the holiday season. Taking the time to deliver a quality, thoughtful business holiday card shows that the business notices each and every customer.

2. Refresh memories of earlier customers- delivering a business holiday card can remind a customer of their great experience with the company’s products or services in the past. This can help bring renewed business in that the customer could return for repeat purchases or may share the company’s contact information with friends, loved ones or coworkers who are seeking such products or services.

3. Convey appreciation to clients- companies know that conveying appreciation to the customers who are supportive in the business world is a extremely important thing to do on a regular basis. By giving out a tasteful business holiday card to each customer, the company is recognizing their support and expressing proper appreciation along with good wishes for the holiday season.

3. Bring in new customers- the mailing of a quality business holiday card to any prospective clients is an excellent way to spread good cheer for the holidays and also perhaps get the business name, product or service on the potential customer’s radar. Giving coupons or other such promotions along with the business holiday card may bring at least a look from possible customers as well.

Overall, simply sending out a business holiday card that will spread the happiness of the period by wishing all customers season’s greetings and good wishes for the New Year will only be a good impact on the business. Ensuring that the card is of good quality and displays well on the business is important in expressing client appreciation.

How To Import Things From China
https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjb_cnTXkI3wHna6rhRJmRztwdpE4CMquiXUD07cGKCKfF8fNhW1-UF7F4bF140-Lzh7n96CZQF182zfhLLORxR4-i22-8iUpnM1xZYHvCcu6SSjlrE4sK7EExXBwz7B8VmYlBZkcunkQ8/s1600/china-great-wall-of-china.jpg
1. Take all the time in the world

Foreign business visitors are often deadline-driven and unwilling to slow down to the Chinese pace when discussing business. But in China the pace can be quick and slow at the same time. Those involved in negotiations know how long they can drag on when the Chinese side is consulting internally or has other reasons for delay. But Chinese negotiators can move with great speed on other occasions. Part of this feeling is subjective. Any chess player knows how long you have to wait for the other player and yet how fast you must move yourself. Nevertheless, Chinese negotiators use time more consciously than their Western counterparts.

2. Understand to separate fact from fiction

Almost everything you hear about China is correct, and so is the opposite. Western thought is centred around linear logic whereas Chinese thinking is influenced by early philosophers, who saw a paradoxical balance of opposites in all circumstances. Where Westerners tend to look for exact alternatives (option A instead of option B), the Chinese may examine ways to combine both option A and option B. This difference in approach may make a foreigner think that a Chinese negotiator is being implausible, evasive or devious, when they believe they are actually being straightforward.

3. Build relationships

Foreigners generally build transactions and, if they're successful, a partnership results. However, the Chinese believe that prospective business partners should build a relationship first and, if successful, commercial arrangements will . This difference underlies many misunderstandings arising from business negotiations. Almost all successful transactions in China result from careful cultivation of the Chinese partner by the foreign one, until a relationship of trust evolves.

4. Cultivate 'guanxi'

The logical development of tight relationships is the Chinese concept of guanxi, pronounced gwan shee. According to business analyst Tim Ambler of the London Business School, the kernel of guanxi is doing business through value-laden relationships. In a very centralised, bureaucratic state, the use of personal contacts was the only way to get things done. Guanxi is the counterpart of a commercial legal system. Where the latter is relatively weak, as in China, the need to rely on guanxi will be strong. As long as the partnership is more significant than the transaction, it is logical to honour it. The thought of a relationship leading to business is . But Easterners who are familiar with guanxi are more cautious than Foreign converts. The accountability of guanxi are very real. In the incorrect place, at an inappropriate time, with unsuitable people, the obligations can become a trap that is hard to escape.

5. Exhibit extra caution with contracts

Chinese and Westerners often approach a transaction from different ends. To a Westerner, starting with a standard contract, changing it to fit the different circumstances, and signing the revised version, seems fine. Commercial law is built intoour thinking. But traditionally, commercial law rarely existed in China and certainly indicated bad faith. The early appearance of a draft legal contract was seen as inappropriate or, more likely, irrelevant, because it carried no hint of commitment. The business statements might form a useful agenda, but obligations came from partnerships, not pieces of paper. Today, returning home with a signed piece of paper is a symbol of progress, but that is all. The Chinese may be signing a contract to humour their guests. To them, a completed contract may merely be the proof that both sides have become close enough to develop a trusting partnership. Further concessions may then be requested - a difficult prospect for the Westerner who has reduced his margin down to barely.

6. Mobilise local assets

The challenge of learning to speak Chinese fluently, the complexities of the Chinese way of doing business, and a strong sense of patriotism mean that a foreigner will only rarely be acknowledged by Chinese interlocutors on equal terms. The solution is to find a reliable local ally to work with you. An effective Chinese colleague will be able to analyse body language at meetings, work out who in the other negotiating team holds real power - not always the boss - and assist to smooth out any inadvertent issues. Conversely, the presence of a foreigner should be exploited to the full. Chinese interlocutors will often see a visit by a foreigner as an indication of sincerity and commitment by the Foreign business. Perversely, they often do not accord mainland Chinese or Hong Kong representatives the same status as a foreigner. The perfect sales team, therefore, is usually a local to take care of the working level contacts, and a foreigner to do honour to the higher echelons.

7. Respect face

Face is an important component of the Chinese national psyche. Possessing face means having a great status in the eyes of one's peers, and is a gauge of personal dignity. The Chinese are very sensitive to acquiring and maintaining face in all parts of social and business life. Face is a valued commodity which can be given, lost, taken away or earned. Causing someone to lose face could ruin business prospects or even invite recrimination. The quickest way to have someone to lose face is to put-down an individual or criticise them in front of others. Foreigners can accidentally insult Chinese by making fun of them in a joking way. Another error can be to treat someone as a subordinate when their status in an organisation is high. Just as face can be lost, it can also be given by complementing someone for great work before their colleagues. Giving face earns respect and loyalty, but praise should be used rarely. Over-use suggests insincerity on the part of the giver.

8. the pecking order

Mao Zedong's thoughts on discipline published in 1966 give a valuable view into structures which exist in Chinese organisations even now: "The individual is subordinate to the organisation. The minority is subordinate to the majority. The lower level is subordinate to the higher level." This quotation, which underlies the way China was governed for over 2 decades, why Chinese society and organisations are very hierarchically organised, and why Chinese people seem to be more group oriented than individualistic and often do not like to take ownership. Similarly, people are seldom willing to give an opinion before their collegues as it might cause loss of face with a trusted ally.

9. Know the tricks of the trade

Eastern negotiators are shrewd and use a wide variety of bargaining tactics. The following are just a couple of the more common strategies:

- Controlling the meeting area and schedule
The Chinese know that foreigners who have traveled the great distance to China will be to go home with nothing. Putting pressure on foreigners just before their planned return can often bring useful benefits to the Chinese side.

- Threatening to do business somewhere else
Foreign negotiators may be pressured into making allowances when the Chinese side threatens to approach rival firms if their demands aren't met.

- Using friendship to extract allowances
As soon as both parties have met, the local side may remind the foreigners that true friends would come to an agreement of high mutual benefit. Make sure that the pay off is in reality mutual and not just one-way.

- Showing your anger
Despite the Confucian aversion to displays of anger, the Chinese side may put on a show of deliberate anger to put pressure on the foreign party, who could be afraid of missing out on the contract.

- Attrition
Chinese negotiators are patient and can draw out discussions in order to ground their interlocutors down. Excessive hospitality the day before discussions can be another variation on this theme.

10. Play the game yourself

Foreign negotiators dealing with Chinese could find some of the following tactics successful:

- Be totallly prepared
At best one individual of the foreign team should have a thorough understanding of every part of the business arrangement. Be ready to give a long and all-inclusive presentation, taking into account not to give sensitive technological information before you arrive at a full agreement.

- Play off competitors
If the going gets hard, you may let the local side know that they are not the only manufacturer {in the are area. Competition between Chinese producers is increasing. There may be other sources in the country for what your counterpart has to offer.

- Don't rush
Easterners generally believe that Westerners are always in a rush, and they may try to get you to sign an arrangement before you have adequate time to go over the details.

- Be prepared to deal with your losses and go home
Let the Eastern side know that failure to agree is an possible alternative to making a negative deal.

- Cover every aspect of an agreement before you commit to it
Talk over the whole agreement with the Chinese side. Make sure that your interpretations are consistent and that everyone understands their duties and obligations.

11. Get expert advice
Often, strong enthusiasm to deal with the Chinese replaces normal due diligence that would be expected before committing. Too frequently, Australian companies try to negotiate with local distributors, wholesalers, joint ventures and manufacturers, and get what they believe are good trading terms, only to find out things aren't what they seemed. Communication is the key to avoiding this, and if you don't you have quality representation in China, you will find this difficult.

Why Small Business Owners Need to Hire a Business Consultant?
http://finacialrecords.files.wordpress.com/2011/09/meeting.jpg
Most small business owners would benefit by electing to hire a business consultant, particularly if they are just starting up or if their business is not doing as well they hoped it would. Consultants can help you in many ways, offering the breadth of their experience in business start-ups and management to enable you to get off to the best possible start or to rescue a failing business that nevertheless has good potential.

Business Consultant Services

When you hire a business consultant you are hiring experience and expertise in a wide range of business elements. They can bring a new perspective to your business in terms of operation analysis, obtaining finance, strategic planning, management consulting and a great deal more.

Very few small owners have much business knowledge or acumen, and even fewer contacts in the business world that can help them with good advice. Business consultancy services can offer you these missing ingredients that can not only turn a failing company round into a successful enterprise, but can also build on the success of a successful firm and enable it to even further dominate its market.

So your small business need not be failing for you to make the best use of a business consultant - successful businesses also employ them to accelerate what may already be a rapid growth rate.

Why Hire a Business Consultant?

* Have you just started up and are unsure where to go next?
* Is your business losing money?
* Do you understand your market but lack some necessary business skills?
* Is your business growing but you want it to grow faster?
* Have you reached a point where you need professional help to advance?
* Have you a need find out more about your customers' needs?

If you can identify with any of these situations then a business consultant can help you. Here are some of the benefits hiring a business consultant can offer:

* Starting up a new business from scratch
* Maximizing the profitability of your business
* Locating areas of your business needing specific attention
* Identifying potential problems and being proactive in resolving them
* Helping you to formulate strategic and systematic plans to enable your business to grow
* Making best use of marketing and the USPs of your products or services
* Helping you find finance to develop your business
* Providing you with new ideas and strategies you had never thought of yourself
* A business consultant provides the knowledge and know-how currently missing in your business

Although you may believe hiring a business consultant to be expensive, they are more affordable than you might believe. They are very cost effective and what you spend in fees you can make many times over in improvement in efficiency and profitability.

There are no doubts that hiring a business consultant can benefit your business, but to make the best use of such as service you should:

a) Hire the best you can afford - with good references and an excellent track record, and

b) Learn from them: how do they operate, what techniques are they using and what third party services, websites or software do they use.

Hiring is fine, but make sure that you learn from them as much as possible. While the major reason why business owners need to hire a business consultant is that they genuinely need help, it doesn't make sense to pay money and fail to learn how to copy their techniques and understand the third party services that they may use.

The Gung Ho Approach: Try it and See What Happens!

Many entrepreneurs use a gung-ho trial-by-fire approach to improving their business - see what happens and if it works, then great, but if not, then start again. Why? Why try to reinvent the wheel and prove what is already known? By employing the services of a business consultant you can get off to a flying start, have any problems you encountered resolved immediately and get on to making more money as quickly as possible.

What you lose in 'learning for yourself' would be better spent on outsourcing your business knowledge and would offer a better return than the cost of learning. So, if you feel that you need a bit more knowledge than you already have, don't wait until you have learned by trial and error, but pay for it and get on with building a successful and profitable business.

Conclusion

Hiring a business consultant can offer a business many benefits - whether that is a new start-up, a failing business or a successful concern. Every business can improve, and if you believe the financial benefit exceeds the outlay, then it's a no-brainer.

So take that burden off your shoulders and pass it on to somebody with the breadth of experience and proven ability to make the changes and improvements that you need to let you sleep easily at night without worry for yourself and your employees. That's why small business owners need to hire a business consultant. To teach them what they don't know!

How One Popular Children's Books Author Expresses Her Creativity Through a New Medium

http://newarklibrary.files.wordpress.com/2009/02/drseuss.jpg?w=401&h=314

Anyone who knows Kimberly Wickham's whimsical and mystical Angels and Horses series knows her talent, not only for creative writing, but for the visual medium as well. The exquisitely drawn artwork that decorates the three books in the series "Angels and Horses," "Summer of Magic Horses," and the forthcoming "Angels, Horses, and Other-Worldly Lessons" is perhaps to be expected; Wickham spent over twenty years studying and working to become an arts educator, and holds degrees in Art, Teaching, Art History, and a master's in Humanities. But now Kimberly Wickham is branching out - her artwork, in cards, Giclee paintings, and print form, is available for stand-alone purchase through her website, http://www.kimberlywickham.com

Wickham's unique style reflects the philosophy that underlies her Angels and Horses series of popular children's books. The books, which detail the adventures of lonely middle schooler Tina and her beloved pet horse Dancer as they discover metaphysical principles of the world around them with the help of TIna's guardian angel Marguerite, explore the "law of attraction," a concept popularized with the recent publication of self-help phenomenon "The Secret." According to this law, anything is possible at the quantum level, and positive thinking can literally "change the world" for you. Wickham's art reflects this belief in a world of magic - chairs collapse into waves, horses sit up and talk - inspiring children to believe in a new way of thinking.

Among the works you can find on the site are:
THE COMFORTING HORSE - picturing a horse sitting upright wrapping its powerful legs around the shoulders of a crying young girl, keeping her safe and warm.
CHAIR COLLAPSING INTO ITS WAVE POTENTIAL - in which a simple household object comes apart at the quantum level and become one with the surrounding environment.
OVER THE COSMIC LATTICE - a magical entry on horseback to a world much richer and more mysterious than our own.
